AULTMORE 18 year old, 53.9% - Single Cask

Region: Speyside
Distillation Year: 1997
Bottling Year: 2015
ABV: 53.9%

Bottler's Notes:

Nose: Very light initially, but becoming more complex. Delicate notes of cut hay and a hint of boiled sweets.
Palate: More chewy than the nose suggests - soft toffee that is slightly drying and then subtle aniseed and mint.
Finish: Long and dry, more aniseed and blackcurrant.

Aultmore is a Speyside distillery ultimately owned by Bacardi, who also own the Dewar's scotch brands. Most of the distillery's output is for use in these blends. In fact, blenders for Dewar's consider Aultmore to be "top dressing" which means its a malt of excellent quality for enriching blends.

The distillery bottlings of the malt are only a few with the 12 year old the only one consistently available until quite recently when  four new but limited expressions were released including a 25yo and a 30yo. There was also an 18yo released for France, so this cask strength bottling of an 18 year old single cask is very welcome.
